As a kid, whenever I was asked “What do you want to be when your older?” It’s safe to say “Plasterer” wasn’t my initial response, more like Professional footballer! But as time went on and I realised I was terrible at football, I had to think of what career would suit me that I would enjoy doing for most of my life. I have always been a very hands on kind of person, even in school doing things was my way of learning, rather than reading and revising. After spending time in college, thinking about what I would like to and talking it through with my parents I decided to apply for an apprenticeship as a plasterer. After having an interview I was told I had the job! The first few weeks were difficult as I struggled to pick up the technique, which believe me is harder than it looks. But as time went on I began to get better finishes and pick up the speed in which I did the job. I soon found myself enjoying the challenge of getting the best finish possible and tackling larger jobs. I have now being plastering for 5+ years and still feel as enthusiastic to get a perfect a finish as possible as I did the day I started.

Going self employed was something I have always wanted to do. I love the freedom it gives you but more than anything I love the excitement of building my own reputable company with a great image that can be recommended by my clients. I was worried about not getting enough work which could lead to me not earning as much but I have been pleasantly surprised with how much work I have received. I enjoy keeping myself busy and having something to concentrate and the work never ends when you're self employed. I pride myself on being on of the best plasterers in Hull.
